Unknown Folk Club, NYC

late 1962 or early 1963

Ramblin' Through This World
Freight Train Blues
Walls of Redwing

Nothing is known about this tape other than that it appears to have been recorded in a folk music club sometime in late 1962 or early 1963, judging from the songs performed. Both "Ramblin' Through This World" and "Walls of Redwing" are known to have been performed in 1963, but it's possible that they were performed earlier. "Freight Train Blues" is a holdover from his early performances, thus bringing up the possibility that this performance comes from late 1962. It seems reasonable.

The sound quality is only fair, being an audience recording, and "Walls of Redwing" cuts off just as it gets started. A perfectly acceptable recording that would make good filler for another early '60s tape.

CDs and LPs: None that I know of.
